Ravalli County Federal Credit Union (RCFCU) is owned by its members. Our operation is run by the President/CEO under the supervision of a board of directors that you, the members, elect.  Your financial privacy is a top priority of this credit union and we want you to be confident in our efforts to protect your privacy. We are required by law to give you this privacy notice to explain how we collect, use, and protect your personal financial information. We do need to collect information about you to conduct our business relationship. We only collect the information necessary to deliver quality services and products to you. We restrict access to non-public personal information about you to those employees who need to know that specific information to provide our products and services to you. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that are in compliance with federal regulations and leading industry practices to protect your information.

We collect non-personal information about you from various sources, which may include:

  • information received from you on applications and other forms
  • information about your transactions with us, our affiliates , or others
  • information received from a consumer reporting agency
  • information received when verifying application or other forms, i.e., your current or past employer, other financial institutions

Under some circumstances, consumer information may be revealed to other groups within our organization to market additional products and to ensure we are considering your entire relationship with us when making decisons about products for you (e.g., increasing your line of credit). We might also share information with different groups in order to provide services necessary to maintain your accounts, such as our data processing vendor. The types of information include your identity, transaction history with our credit union, your current financial condition, such as details about your income and/or assets, and information received from a credit report or from other sources outside of our credit union.

We may also disclose the following kinds of information about you:

  • application information including your name, address, social security number, assets, and income
  • transaction information with us, our affiliates or others including account balances, payment history, participation in transactions and use of your credit, debit or ATM card
  • information received from a consumer reporting agency regarding your credit history and credit worthiness
  • information obtained when we verify information provide by you on an application or other forms, including  current or past employment history

We may disclose all the information we collect as described above. We might also disclose the information described above to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf or financial institutions with which we have joint marketing agreements.

From time to time, we will provide informaiton to reputable companies for the purposes of informing you about financial products and/or services offered by those companies. Unless you specifically respond to a solicitation by such a company, retention of this information is not allowed.

We may disclose non-public personal information about you to the following parties:

  • financial service providers (our affiliate mortgage banking subsidiary, and/or non-affiliated  insurance agents
  • non-financial, non-affiliated companies such as retailers and publishers
  • others, such as non-affiliated, nonprofit organizations.

We will not share your account number or access codes with outside companies for purposes of marketing. We may also disclose non-public, personal information about you to non-affiliated third parties, as permitted by law. These disclosures typically include information to process transactions on your behalf, conduct the operations of our credit union, follow your instructions as you authorize, or protect the security of our financial records. If you terminate  your membership, we will continue to adhere to the privacy policies and practices as described in this notice.

When we share information with third parties, we hold all such parties to the same or higher standards as we do for ourselves with respect to issues of information privacy. To protect our members' privacy, we only work with companies that agree to maintain strong confidentiality protections and limit the use of information we provide.
